Comedian David Frye Dies

David Frye died in Las Vegas at the age of 77, the New York Times reports. He was a comedian best known for his portrayals of Richard Nixon, Lyndon Johnson, Nelson Rockefeller and other politicians in the public. Frye was born in the name of David Shapiro and became popular in the 1960s and 1970s when he imitated some popular personalities.


Frye's career took off when Nixon began his presidency. Some of the television shows he appeared on included The Ed Sullivan Show and the Tonight Show With Johnny Carson.
